Lower LDL Cholesterol Naturally

Welcome to Lower LDL Cholesterol Naturally. Low-density lipoprotein (LDL) is one of the five major groups of lipoproteins, which in order of size, largest to smallest, are chylomicrons, VLDL, IDL, LDL and HDL, that enable transport of lipids like cholesterol and triglycerides within the water-based bloodstream.

LDL Cholesterol Levels

Blood tests typically report LDL-C, the amount of cholesterol contained in LDL. Because previous studies showed that higher levels of LDL particles promote health problems and cardiovascular disease, they are often informally called the bad cholesterol particles, (as opposed to HDL particles, which are frequently referred to as good cholesterol).

Because LDL particles can also transport cholesterol into the artery wall, increased levels are associated with atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries). Over time vulnerable plaques rupture, activate blood clotting, which if severe enough results in heart attack or stroke.

The most effective way to minimize LDL in the blood is to minimizing body fat stores. This is connected to insulin. The rise of insulin is, in general, determined by the digestion of carbohydrates into glucose (sugar). In non-diabetics, glucose levels are very low when insulin levels are high. Lowering the blood lipid concentration of triglycerides helps lower the concentration of Small LDL particles, because fat rich VLDL particles convert in the bloodstream into Small LDL particles.
